When Princess Diana learned that her friends Freddie Mercury and Kenny Everett were off to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern that night, she was keen to join them. To enable the Princess to have her way while avoiding a scandal, the friends dressed her up as a man, hoping that she would ‘pass for a rather eccentrically dressed gay male model'. This is our imagining of Diana's look that night.
